Everyone should remember that the EVA transcriptions are simply convenient and easy-to-remember ways to get the VMs text into a form that computers can analyze! EVA was also designed to use only letters and therefore to be somewhat pronounceable. I don't think Gabriel and Rene meant that EVA /ch/ is to be pronounced like English /ch/ . Also remember that EVA /d/ looks much more like an 8 than a Latin d . So I think that looking for natural-language words pronounced like an English-speaker would try to pronounce EVA Voynichese is missing the mark.
