Stars in the margin, was: Re: VMs: Faces at the roots

In the last quire of the MS (the stars or recipes
section) I counted 324 paragraphs with a star in
the margin. (This is really the number of stars - 
in a few cases one cannot be fully sure that there
is a paragraphc break).

There are two more pages (ff. 58r and 58v)
which have two or three marginal stars each.
Commonly, the pages in the recipes section have
15 stars each, so one could assume that the
four missing pages had another 60, but this is
not guaranteed.

The number 15 is interesting since the zodiac
pages have 15 or 30 stars each. There is,
however, no _obvious_ connection since the number
of points per star between the two sections does
not match. Also, in the recipes sections they
are coloured yellow and red, which does not match
the zodiac section. 

This of course does not mean that there is
definitely no connection between the two. If there
is, it is simply not such an obvious one :-)
