 Again, is that a problem? I think that there might be several "threads" of
 advancement, from only few or only one is known to us and our culture. Idea and
 progress can happen on many places in the same time or in different times. I
 will take the microscope as an example. We know from where the
 idea/concept/design of microscope we use today comes from. But we can not say,
 that there were no other ideas, not even older ones. Perhaps yes, perhaps not.
 Or perhaps there were other means... What we can say for sure is, that we do
 not know. If we can not imagine something, it does not mean that it does not
 exist/does not have existed.
 
 Moreover, how many ideas were banned/discarded, because others thought of them
 as dangerous to the culture/population? I bet that there was at least one.
