Tr: Re: VMs: GEORGIUS VARUS & BALBIN

Hi

Balbin was a Jesuit and a friend of Marci. He lived
some time in Cesky Krumlov.

http://galileo.rice.edu/Catalog/NewFiles/marci.html

"Marci had friendships with well known figures such as
Bohuslav Balbin (a prominent Czech intellectual) whom
he cured of a dangerous disease, Caramuel y Lobkovitz,
and the historian Stransky, but there is no indication
of anything called patronage in these relations."

http://balbin.euweb.cz/bbalbin.html
http://www.ckrumlov.cz/uk/osobno/i_bohbal.htm

"Balbin taught in the Jesuit colleges in Prague,
Třeboň, Brno, Jičín,
Jindřichův Hradec and Český Krumlov
where he lived at Horní no. 154. "

Since we are back in this nice city perhaps it's worth
mentionning that an alchemy guild is taking advantage
of its history:

http://www.alchemyguild.org/history.htm

"The modern Alchemy Guild was formed by a
confederation of practicing alchemists from Germany,
Austria, and Czechoslovakia who trace their lineage
back to a unique association of freethinking
alchemists who welcomed both spiritual and practical
alchemists, as well as any of their fellow craftsmen
who had been outcast or persecuted by political or
Church authorities. This enlightened association was
founded by a Renaissance nobleman and practicing
alchemist named Wilhelm von Rosenberg."
