This looks interesting. I'm not sure if I understood everything correctly.
(What is the point of the "dead letters"? Why would single-letter words make
the encipherment insecure? Because they are prone to statistical analysis?)
But it's very refreshing to see some serious work on the VM again, as
opposed to Papke-style deus ex machina-solutions.
