Hi GC,

Nick, how far have you developed your theory that the rosettes page is a
map? If a map, does it have a north, south, east and west?
IMO, the "castle" rosette is a slightly (but logically) enciphered version
of the well-known family of circular maps (of Quattrocento Milan). I could
argue the case but it would take, oooh, about a chapter or so: so I'll stop
here for now. :-)
I also used to think that the central rosette represented Venice, but now
think it represents a town you won't find on any other map (sorry for being
cryptic, but this is a work-in-progress note). And I don't mean Los Seres
(in-joke for anyone who's just read Kate Mosse's novel "Labyrinth").
Also hidden on the rosette page is (IMO) another unmapped building, as well
as a fabulous tower close by to it... but this is getting far too obscure,
so I'd better stop there. :-o
But as for NSEW, I don't currently know: though IIRC there's an arrow
hidden round one of the rosettes, which might point the way towards an
answer... what do you think?
Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
