Sound advice

A place to discuss anything Voynich, or not. I'd imagine "politics and religion" are problem good topics to be avoided, just to keep it civil!

Sound advice

Post by Earth_dweller »

Hi, I am new to the forum and I am hoping for some sound advice.
I figure that most people here are way more educated about the manuscript than I am.

If a person was able to decicipher some of the manuscripts pages who would they contact with this information?
Would you contact anyone?

If it was you would you continue translating the entire manuscript (tedious) or would you do a hand off to others that could finish the translation with the formula that gives results definitely faster and would also be able to to it more organized and in a controlled manner?

I am thinking mostly about the possible ethics of what may be present in this book which is an obvious possibility in going public with the information, and process used to decipher some of the pages I think will lead to an even larger ethics challenge.

Basically I feel in over my head and above my pay grade but also a sense of wanting to make sure my information falls in to safe hands.

I have known about the manuscript for some years and I had always planned to make it a hobby when I retired but I had a weekend recently where I just decided to start. I didn’t expect to get anywhere with it but I did on the first weekend which freaked me out, made me think that if I did it that others have also done it and are maybe choosing not to go public. Since then I have been taking more pages (when time allows) and tweaking things so that the process goes faster which is great but it would be nice to have someone else try it and see if they get the same results as me but again I feel obligated to protect the process. Is there anyone in the Voynich world that you would trust if you were me?

Oh the dilema….

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I look forward to diving in to some of the topics on this forum. :-)
