Histocrypt is on for 2021 !

Because of Covid, of course, Histocrypt 2020 had to be cancelled. However there is a date for 2021

As Klaus Schmeh explains in his blog post, above, "The HistoCrypt 2021 is scheduled for September 20-22 in Amsterdam. The Call for Papers is running until February 21. Let’s hope that the Covid-19 situation has improved by then."

Given the great news about new, promising vaccines, that by the time of HistoCrypt things will be back to pretty much normal.

Thanks for sharing! After HistoCrypt 2020 had to be canceled, I hope that the 2020 issue will take place as planned. I'm looking forward to it.

As I understand it, because of the pandemic, Histocrypt 2021 became an entirely online event. And it seems that all of the papers from that event are now posted here, online, in PDF form:

They are not abstracts, they are the entire papers. I've read a couple and they are very interesting.

It also seems that that there will STILL be an "in person" event on June 20-22, 2022 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This will include several talks which are not represented by the above papers, such as David Oranchak, Sam Blake, and Jarl van Eycke, "Solving the Zodiac Killer's Cipher". Personally I would love to hear this talk, by these men... I would consider this an historic lecture, on probably one of the most impressive post-WWII cipher breaking successes. And when, if ever, will all be together again, to explain and discuss this achievement? Here is the schedule:

Thanks for the clarification, David. I had missed the part that there will still be a September 20th, 2021 online event. That is going on the calendar right now. Is that going to be a Zoom or Zoom type meeting?

"To be clear, we are giving our keynote at the online event on September 20, 2021. I imagine they will have a different slate of speakers at the in-person event in June.

"The papers this year are great - especially this one: "A Massive Machine-Learning Approach For Classical Cipher Type Detection Using Feature Engineering". If Z340 was still unsolved, I would surely want to feed it into their classifier to see what type of cipher it thinks it is (I'm still curious what it would conclude). Would also be interesting to see what it thinks about text from the VMS.

Even though you and your team solved Z340, it would be interesting to see the results. And I am glad to see you are thinking of the VMs text... if anyone has a chance of making sense of it, I think you would be at the top of the list.
