There is another letter behaves in a funny way.
It is "cc" like in "acción" the fist one sounds like "k" and the second one like "s" or a mixture of "s" and "z" depending on where you live.
Double vowels are rare. I know of words with double "o" (like zoológico) or double "e" (leer, to read), but as I said they are quite rare.
