I should also have pointed out that such numbering systems have the
property of anagrammability - that is, an in-range number can be written in
any order, yet will still have the same value.
Conversely: a property that such numbers might be unlikely to have is
*repeated letters*. So: EVA "otolol" = "ot" + "ol" + "ol" probably wouldn't
be one of these numbers, but EVA "otolal" = "ot" + "ol" + "al" certainly
could be.
Once again, the alphabet question returns: until such time as we have
locked down the underlying character set (and I think we pretty much all
agree that it probably isn't EVA per se), our path remains sharply uphill. :-/
