Threaded is good, history is good. If anyone wants to
make the archives Jim Reeds is keeping even more useful,
that would be a real service.

Anything that requires users to have some particular piece
of software to access the information is less good. Some of
the most insightful members of the list are also among the
least technologically inclined, and we would lose a great
deal of expertise if we moved to a medium that cut them out
of the discussion. This is the same reason one doesn't like
to distribute web pointers to documents that are only in
Word or PowerPoint: not everyone has access to those tools,
and it doesn't make sense to cut out that segment of the
intellectual population.

That said, there's nothing to keep anyone interested in the
Voynich Ms. from setting up their own list, website, Flash
site, or whatever and inviting members of this list or others
to join them. If the new forum is significantly superior to
the old, it will atract the right crowd.

My own preference is for the lowest technological common
denominator. I believe our problems are primarily those
of intellect rather than technology... but I don't insist
on that viewpoint!
