VMS -- Botany (f16r) Rumex crispus
It seems to me that the VMS herbal drawing in f16r may be Rumex crispus
(or at least a close relative); however, the match to the drawing is not
perfect. The basal leaves do not appear to be the same and the R.
crispus roots still need to be examined for comparison. Since the upper
sections of the plants show a close resemblance and because of its
historical herbal application, for now I am content to accept Rumex
crispus as a good match. As always, if there proves to be a better match
with another plant in the future then this assessment will be replaced
by the newer discovery.
