RE: Stroke encoding?
Hi all,
a database of stroke components already exists. It's within JWPce, my
favourite japanese texteditor. It gives for every Kanji the strokes, from
which it's built up.Im my opinion, the stroke order is normaly not important
(not more than the difference between servant/soldier and earth.Such things
can be handled by the context.
The usage of combinations - as suggested before- is quite straight forward:
for example the usage of horizontal strokes is very common, so encode this
with the number of strokes:1 = 1 hor. stroke,2=2 strokes up to 4=4
strokes. There should an appropiate number in the VMS for that.
And for more complex one, use gallows.
The Hanzi yúan (beginning) could be another candidate for the Symbol
(instead of big or heaven).

The problem is to find a database that gives the stroke order
of every Chinese character. There must be one.
I am persuaded that this is not the solution, but it is
an idea well worth pursuing.
