Excellent question, Glen.
Assuming starting points are indeed indicated... However, there might be
other reasons for the divisions in the text and occasional misaligned word.
I'm sure all the circles and volvelles you visited had divisional markers
and although they didn't seem to indicate the start-here marker, they serve
to clarify the intelligence behind the text.
