VMs: Re: "M." Georg Barchius
Could the new list be so set up that "Reply" goes to the list
rather than the sender? I sent the following to Jorge only, again!

Most probably it stands for "Magister" (= M.A.) - as we know
he probably studied in Rome and thus may have got this degree.
I have recently found out that there was a noble Czech family
named "Bares z Kamenice" (with s-hacek so equivalent to "sch")
- but could not find any details except the coat-of-arms.
The M could, therefore, also stand for "Magnificus" - but
this title was usually applied to higher nobility and
that family definitely did not belong to that stratum.
The whole info on the family can be found at:
http://www.pamatky.com/nobilis.php?NrKey=395
That listing of Czech nobility is based on two books by
Milan Myslivecek, of which I have the first one.
