VMs: more Baresch
I have found something, I think. Following the previous message
I checked the Web again for "Bares z Kamenice" (which is difficult
because Bares is a rather popular surname and Kamenice is a popular
place name) and I hit a short history of a village called
Olovnice at:
http://www.kralupsko.cz/CZ/region/obce/Olovnice/Soubory/zem.htm
There are quite a number of intriguing pieces of info. First
of all, in the 13th and 14th c. there was stonghold of
the Order of Malta (ie. of St. John) and a convent of
Virgin Mary and St. John of Jerusalem.
In the second half of the 15th c. it passed on to
Jost of Rozmberk, the bishop of Wroclaw (Breslau) - yes,
from the same Rozmberk family - and to the convent of Prague.
But they lost it for financial reasons and the owner
became Zikmund Bareš z Kamenice! (the Web page actually
has "Barse" but it certainly is a typo).
He lost it in 1541 to the Zejdlic family, and eventually
in 1669 the village became part of the Habsburg-Lorraine
family estates.
And one more thing - it is located near Kladno,
on the border of the Melnik district (and we know
why Melnik is important!).
Best regards,
Rafal
