First dating evidence...?
Hi everyone,
My belief is that the f57v volvelle has an astrological chart hidden within
the second empty band in from the outside. My guess is that this was
probably written in (out of vanity) but then deleted - but is partially
visible through image enhancement.
The date I believe it corresponds to is 3 April 1495: and - what's more -
this ties in with the short label just outside the volvelle. If the outside
band is the fixed stars (as happens in similar volvelles), this text (EVA
"dairol") would correspond exactly with "1st Point in Aries".
And here's the point - given that I believe that EVA
"dain"/"daiin"/"daiiin" = 1/2/3, what then would I predict EVA
"dair"/"daiir"/daiiir" to be, apart from 1st/2nd/3rd?
So: I predict that the EVA "dairol" label means "1st oncia (measure)
of...", with "Aries" being implicitly below (and just to the left of) it.
Then: the text in the outermost band looks like it ought to hold the names
of the twelve fixed signs, starting with Aries and proceeding anticlockwise
around the ecliptic.
Then: my further prediction is that EVA "ol" steganographically codes for
"de" or "da". However, this doesn't look far-fetched, given that it does
look like a simplified version of "de" (with the stalk removed from the "d").
I'm working to confirm this more strongly...
Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
