VMs: MY offer for the Mailing List

I just finished reading all the new material (2
years is new to me) on Jorge Stolfi's site. Very
good, Jorge. No pizza dough there, but very good
analysis of the pepperoni. :-) Seriously though,
I learned a few things. And thank you for adding
my site to your active list in such a short time.
Very kind of you. Thank you.

My Mailing list suggestion is that we purchase a
domain name and site for one year at a time,
devoted only to Voynich studies. If this is a
good idea to many of you, I will pay for the first
year. I'm using Global Solutions right now
because of the multiple level passwording, the
unlimited mailing list the site can handle, and
the 500mb storage space for material. CGI's can
also be put into place that will eliminate viruses
if deemed necessary, (although I personally
consider this the end responsibility of the
individual computer user). If you are one of the
37% that don't use virus protection, you're right
up there statistically with those that drive
without insurance.

I will purchase the first year ($19.95 per month x
12) if anyone is interested in moving the mailing
list to something under our complete control, and
I suggest that a board of directors be set up to
control the site and the mailing list. (I do not
volunteer for any of these positions, I only offer
the first year's wages). I suggest a board of
directors of probably 5 people, all with telnet
access passwords, that can control the content of
sections of the site.

The structure and content of the site would be
decided by the board. It is in my opinion the
best way to satisfy some of our concerns that
text-only e-mail is not the best alternative.
This site would provide ascii text email, along
with the ability to accept submissions for posting
from VMS members of items that cannot be
demonstrated in ascii. 500mb under "official
Voynich control" would be a substantial forum and
web-presence.

Someone would have to nail down the right Domain
name for the site and check the registers to see
if the name is free. I'm simply offering to pay
for the first year, and I leave the details to
others to work out, but I've had very good luck
with this provider, and the mailing list options
are professionally thought out.
