In Byzantine times, virtually all astronomical works
were derived from Ptolemy. Any sign of any other
source would be of great interest.

Byzantine illustration in MS Vat.Gr.1291, see
http://www.voynich.nu/extra/vatg1291.html
The illustration with the nymphs is rather unique.
