I like the 'tons of numbers in the zodiac'
assumption, so I'd agree with John. But let me
also throw in another one:
'4o' is a binary alternative of 'o'.
Just like 'ch' / 'sh', and 'k' / 't',
and 'p' / 'f', and 'y' / 'dy', and 'in' / 'iin'
and a whole lot of other possibilities.
Perhaps the VMs is just a lot of binary numbers.
Or perhaps the binary variation is noise and
the base words are all that matters. Or perhaps
this is evidence of someone throwing the dice
a lot while concocting the VMs....
Or perhaps this is all an anachronism and nobody
in the 15th C could have come up with such a
scheme...
In short: Merry Christmas to all,
Rene
