RE: VMs: Re. VMS Thumbnail images
I'd prefer progressive jpeg myself...
http://www.morewood.net/voynich/011r_progressive.jpg for example. I don't
know if
there is much quality loss between Anthony's version and the slightly
smaller 12k version here. Web space certainly isn't an issue for this
collection either, as Rene says his site can handle it if required (my site
also has ample space to play with, but I haven't got much VMS material there
yet.
One thing I'd like to do (and have intended for some time - but time hasn't
permitted) is to cut and paste the VMS folios into 'a new order' based on my
earlier posts). Not that I'm saying I've got the exact reordering figured
out - just that some of them seem obvious, while most is agreeably
speculation. Anyway, I like creating little web-booklets like this one...
http://www.morewood.net/vmsquires.html which I will move into the voynich
subdirectory soon (so if you visit with this link and find nothing it's
moved to http://www.morewood.net/voynich/vmsquires.html (small javascript
error right now - as this little booklet doesn't have a searchform where
others like my 1840's Halifax time capsule
http://www.morewood.net/capsule.html do).
John.

Thanks! That looks quite good to me.
It only takes a very short time to appear,
and has about the size I had in mind. Of course,
others may wish to say something about it.
About the file naming, the standard folio naming
convention is from Jim Reeds' original checklist,
which is turn derives from the usage in D'Imperio
I have also followed it consistently (I hope) on
my web site.
We're looking at about 17 kB per image, so
that is about 4 MB altogether. Like I said, I
could host them, but perhaps this type of general
material could go to voynich.net (?)
Cheers, Rene
