Probably not if they believe in a polyalphabetic (or other 
stats-flattening) encoding based on the superficial alphabet.

But if you believe in a multiple-glyph-per-underlying-letter basis for the 
code, perhaps with multiple states (with a state-change perhaps triggered 
by gallows characters), then you can probably explain it easily - they're 
not in the dictionary of any state. :-)
