I just had a look at my copy of the Koran (a gift from King Fahd).
There are no word spaces. There are... "letter spaces". For instance,
the Arabic alphabet is such what a <w> connects to the preceding
letter, but it can NEVER connect to the following.
A <b> can connect to either preceding of following.
In Thai spaces are inserted without regard to word breaks.
In Chinese, in Japanese, there are no word breaks. Sentences are written
as continuous strings of characters.
Even in ancient Greek inscriptions there were no word breaks.
