RE: VMs: Arabic and Voynich
I'm glad I stirred you all up a bit. I both read and write Arabic, live
in the Middle East, (for another three weeks), and am very familiar with
Nabataeans and their language. I've written a couple of books on the
subject, and hundreds of papers, many of which are available on
http://nabataea.net. My comment is simply this, if a scribe was told to
copy the book, and he was not familiar with the language, would he not
have made a few subtle changes. And could the next scribe not have made
a few more. If the original text was written around 200 - 100 BC, then
there is lots of years for changes to have entered into the script by
western scribes who were simply recording the book for the sake of
having it.
I'll work on this some more, and then post some ideas about the text.
Does this mail system have the capability to handle pictures? Otherwise
I can post some ideas on the nabataea site later. If you want to have a
look at Nabataean script, check out http://nabataea.net/write.html or
writingch.html
