After a long and arduous search I believe that Scopolia is the
proper match for the VMS botanical drawing in f03v (probably Scopolia
carniolica). While the scribe's variations through artistic license have
distorted the plant's true form as it appears in nature, there is
sufficient cause in both appearance and description to render this match
accurate. The highly poisonous characteristics of Scopolia
clearly afford it a position of prominence among the other toxic
entries in this herbal collection.
