VMs: Horizontal alignment lines on f38r...?
Hi everyone,
Just now, while looking at my pairified version of f38r...
http://www.nickpelling.com/voynich/pairs.gif
...I noticed a faint horizontal (alignment?) line just about the lowest
line of the text (line 6). This isn't visible on the CopyFlo, but seems
clearly visible on the no-ip scan. Check it out on:-
http://www.flamingjesus.com/voynich/f38r.jpg
The text seems unmistakably aligned with the top of the lower case VMS letters.
There is also a mark to the right of the third line up from the end (line
4), which might also be suggestive of a (non-fully-erased) alignment line.
Also: having now gone through all the no-ip VMS scans looking for similar
examples, I've listed what I found at the end of this email - please feel
free to comment. However, note that:-
(a) these lines don't seem to appear in the CopyFlo, so may all be
microfilm artefacts
(b) many of these scans have been image-processed for additional contrast etc.
Still, it's something to think about. :-)
Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
