VMs: Lyncean Academy
An interesting private Academy (perhaps previously discussed) founded near
Rome by Federico Cesi to study all aspects of nature. Galileo was an honored
member of this exclusive/controversial academy which may have had a Jesuit
connection.

The Eye of the Lynx:
A treasure trove of documents were discovered at Windsor Castle. I wonder if
there might have been anything related to the VMS in this collection. On
initial review there was nothing specifically seen concerning the VMS "The
Eye of the Lynx: Galileo, His Friends, and the Beginnings of Modern Natural
History" by David Freedberg which refers to the Windsor find.

Dana Scott
