Does the diamond on the patch between circle 5/8 (bottom left) look like a
directional indicator to anyone else? The triangle is in the "fort".
BTW: The fort appears to be in the style of Vauban. Vauban
created the "bible" for forts, siege warfare, etc. This guy was a military
genius who pretty much revolutionized warfare. When you see a fort where
the design is such that there is no "undefended" length of wall that is a
fort that was created post Vauban. If true, that would nail the
manuscript to a date no earlier than the 1640s.
