my result is different, I used FSG parsed out of the EVT file and found 6112 unique words, of which 59 occurred twice, i.e. they were anagrams.

None were found more than twice. This works out to 0.96 percent, just under 1 in 100.

 

I suspect that my figures are so different as I "cleaned" the file by removing all ambiguous words first then sorted and uniq'ed the file so that my count is not based on each occurrence of each word, but just each unique word.

I checked it. The result was:

Voyniches: 1952 out of 5817 words are anagrams of any other word (33.5%)
English: 4328 out of 45427 words are anagrams of any other word (9.5%)
(using /usr/share/dict/linux.words)

The hypothesis seems to be rejected:-)

Note that this calculation is based on EVA. If any other orthography
(for example, Currier) we! re used, the result would change much.
