VMs: Old Man Winter
Hey all,
In your journeys through medieval manuscripts, can you be on the lookout for
any depictions of "old man winter"? Especially any that are depicted with a
cane or walking stick, and/or wearing chains?
This relates to folio 86r2, which others have identified as the four
seasons. The section starts with the fleur-de-lis as spring, when flowers
bloom, then summer, with nothing significant, fall, with a man holding what
appears to be an apothecary jar (harvest and time to make potions), and then
old man winter, the four seasons.
