Re: VMs: Voynich manuscript
How on earth did you hear about the George Boole Fan Club ????
Ain't the internet winderful?
Yes the George Boole Fan Club is my idea, for what it's worth!
As for hex not being invented until recently, then yes that is true. But
more than one person can invent things in different places and at different
times. I merely suggest that it seems close to hex, although certain letters
and numbers are omitted. If it is a code that would be a good way to encrypt
it, don't you think? No one investigating the text has thought of that one
for the ninety or so years it has been under investigation. Look at the two
joined c forms. Is that not a number 2 sitting on top of it? This could be a
compacted phrase meant to look like one symbol. Hence the compaction could
represent noise in the data.
The key may not even be a straight forward substitution. It might have a
calculated element. A form of compression even, which would explain the
shortness of the words. The author either put NO real meaning in the text,
or he was damn sure he wasn't going to let anyone else read it. Well in the
second case I call him an absolute genius. I won't tell you what I would
call him in the first case.
