Here are some stats from a glyph-based point of view, taken from the first 6
quires, or the first 96 pages of the VMS.

31,412 glyphs or characters
8,175 words
2,940 unique words
2,141 words occur only once (i.e. 72.8% of all words are truly unique)
309 words occur only twice
146 words occur three times
69 words occur 4 times
51 words occur 5 times
2,716 words (or 92.4%) used five times or less.

8am is the most popular word, with 362 occurrences.  The next in order has
less than half of this, at 172 occurrences.

The longest word is 10 glyphs in length.

make up 30,760 occurrences, or 98% of the first 6 quires of the VMS.
