What was on Voynich's mind, I do not know. But
Kraus was the buyer who was selected according to
Voynich's criteria, and Kraus initially tried to
sell the MS for monetary gain. When that failed,
he donated it to the Beinecke, where it has been
accessible to everybody who wants to look at
it, ever since.
