RE: VMs: Transcription scanner (seeking permission)

Jeff, and all,

There's no way to tell how many programs that have been written to
manipulate the VMS data. I am constantly deleting programs because I can't
remember what I wrote them for, or when for that matter. Short snippets of
code to look for one little thing or another, I'm sure...

I did give up the text-based programming in favor of a database for speed
and clarity of language however, but I still do text-based searches and some
programming in that area from time to time, depending on the special need of
the moment, so it's all good in that respect.

Someone earlier was asking if there was a database available, and at the
time I hadn't completed the herbal section, so I let it slip. But with the
final addition of f57r, and the completion of the herbal section, the VGBT
database is now available for those who prefer this format. I primarily use
Access 2000, but these files are maintained in a DBF structure for
portability between programs, and are available in a small zipped file
through a link here:

Hope this is useful to somebody.
