Re: VMs: Another barrel display

From: "Jeff" <jeff@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Following is the Phil Neal inspired barrel interpretation. Note the distinct
row markers a and r. Also the various mark positions of c, h, y and s.
Letters towards the bottom of the display show less pattern and more
scatter.

The acknowledgement is gratefully received and I am delighted to see people
working on the same lines as I am. But I would appeal for contributors to be
selective about using the list to post this kind of material (the output of
programs designed to rewrite the transcription as the raw material of a solution),
particularly if there is little explanation of the algorithm used or the
significance of the results. Any decent programmer could produce several
megabytes a day of rewritten Voynich text.

I suppose this approach will be called the 'barrel interpretation' from now on.
I personally think of it as the 'regular expression' theory after a term from
computer science. The fact that so much Voynich text can be fitted to
regular expressions and displayed in columns is strong evidence that Voynichese
is not a natural language: or at least I would be interested to hear of a natural
language whose words conform to a structure of this kind.
