VMs: vms - French?
OK...
Time once again to ask if I am crazy. I have been working on trying to get some of the astronomical names to come out somewhat sensible, and decided to try my simple substitution (not quite single substitution, but close) against the first paragraph of f1r to see if anything made sense.
What came out was a semi-French looking text (if you think of older French where e^tre was still spelled estre, etc). What really got me going was line 4 - where text came out remarkably like "astres - terrestres" which I think is "astrology" or "horoscope" in French.
This looks best in a font like Courier.
v) are voynich lines (best as I could derive from a faded f1r
t) is the translated text
f1r.1
v) fychys ykal ar otaiin shol shol sh*rer ykos sholdy
t) ?esdesti estrar ait estrange ??er ??er ??*t?t streti ??etales
f1r.2
v) sory ckhar or kair chtaiin char ain cth*r cthar da*
t) tietes ?tr?at et tra?t destrange deat a?ge ?str?*t ?str?at ala*
f1r.3
v) syaiir shety or ykaiin shod cthoarc cth s dar aiin
t) tissant ???stres et estrange ??eal ?str?eat? ?str? ti alat ange
f1r.4
v) daiin atchy otos roloty ctchar daiin o okan
t) alange astrdes estreti terrestres ?strdeat alange e etrage
f1r.5
v) *aiiy chear cthaiin cphar cfhaiin - yda??shy
t) *anes de?at ?str?ange ?str?at ???ange - sala??es
my method is like this right now:
a = a or ai
o = e or eu
r = t or tt
l = r or rr
y = s or es
t = str
k = tr
n = ge
d = al
ii = n
ch = de
so "aller" might be "dol", "et" is "or", etc.
Any comments/derisive remarks are welcome
