btw:
if VMS is a ciphertext, then very probably the line is a unit

so - in analysis the "change line" should certainly be considered as a 
character (maybe the crucial one). The enthropy of everything after that (e.g. 
second letter of third word or just eleventh letter in each line etc) could be 
helpful. But well, this is probably done many times already?
