Most don't, but IIRC Stolfi did put them in
his interlinear file, according to the method
that we (Gabriel and myself) adopted a number
of years ago.
These tags are interpreted by the VTT tool.
Nick, are you aware of that tool? Some, if not
most of its options would be useful in your
tool as well, as it allows one to work from a
fully commented transcription file, and auto-
matically get rid of all trimmings, interpunctions
etc and a lot more.
