PS:

I have just noted that jEdit (the Java Unicode editor) page
says its features include:

     Built-in macro language; extensible plugin architecture.
     Dozens of macros and plugins available. 

So maybe it would be possible to consider writing a statistics/
entropy/translation plug-in(s) for it?
