VMs: RE: Viola tricolor



    Not sure if we can really tell from the Black & White picture whether that is indeed a face/head or some distortion/noise. Like always, it would be much better to be able to distinguish the subtle shadings and colours and determine whether that white space just happens to look like a head from one of those silhouette optical illusion sketches...

I find it rather curious that there is such a stricking face/head drawn in the upper middle petal of the right viola tricolor flower facing towards the left side of the page in f9v of the VMS. It does not seem characteristic of the drawing style seen in other facial features drawn in the VMS.
