I agree with you, I cannot see anything that appears to have an alchemical meaning. I ruled this out quite a while ago.

I spent several years studying alchemy as a philosophy,
and have a fair collection of books on the subject.
But I've never seen anything in the VMs that I would
think is alchemical in nature.
