VMs: Kircher Museum (WAS: Jesuits scientists site, with a section on Marci...)

	Here I read, speaking of the VMs:

Surely this is in error????

	Hm.  I once proposed a silly theory that the VMs
contains an occult secret that the Catholic Church
wants to suppress, but the nature of the secret is such
that it cannot merely destroy the VMs - rather like the
Man in the Iron Mask.  

	The Church learned that Kircher was about to decipher
the VMs.  It gave him a choice: face speedy trial and
lengthy execution on charges of heresy, or join the
Jesuits and give them all his worldly possessions, the
VMs included.  Perhaps the Church also gave Marci an
offer he couldn't refuse?
