Re: VMs: Whole crypto book is on line now

Hi everyone,

BTW, I've mirrored all Petr's scans on GC's old site (but without the thumbnails), which I believe should generally load faster:-

Including the decryption treatise of Sicco (sic!) Simonetta - in Latin. Just
three pages long.

...yes, but what a great three pages they are! :-)

I think I've once seen a website with an on-line library of old crypto books
(like Vigenére etc.). I could send the stuff to them if someone knows the
URL. Or do I remember something that doesn't exist at all?

GC has scanned and posted many of these in the past - so I guess you're probably thinking of that. Or are you thinking of Project Gutenberg, which aims to transcribe (rather than simply to scan) old texts?

Given that Meister's work is (despite its age) relevant here, perhaps we might consider using OCR to convert it to text?

BTW, which OCR packages would people here particularly recommend? Adobe Capture? Clara OCR? etc

Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
