I have been reading the Vulgate over the past year (still have some way to go yet) and remember in III Regum (which is the first book of Kings in the English version) a lot of references to capitella, capitals, etc in chapter 7 describing the building of Solomons temple,

Yes it does say 'figura'. The left hand caption says 'figura capitelli
secundum
expositores catholicos', 'picture of the knob according to the Catholic
interpreters' and the right hand caption says 'figura capitelli secundum
Rabbi
Salomonem', 'picture of the knob according to Rabbi Solomon'. It refers to
some object described in the Bible. I have come across this before but I
can't
remember where.
