On the subject of the plume & contractions (etc)... I'm still wondering about the relationship between word-length in the VMs and word-length in abbreviating shorthands: perhaps that might well give word-length an artificial-looking (possibly even binomial) distribution?

The way I see it, any kind of many-to-one abbreviation system would alter the left and right entropies significantly. I'm not sure how we could test this, though... tricky. :-(
