Actually, with our luck, the Beagle 2 will land and the camera will show 2 martians standing there with a sign: "dcholday dar dar dar okeedy dain" - pretty much forcing us to immediately give up any hope of communicating with them <grin>.

If Beagle 2 lands on Mars alive and well, then 2004 will 
be followed by 2005.

If it does not, then 2004 will precede 2005.
