VMs: Porta with possible codebook indicators



Porta cipher scheme where codebook numbers could be inserted into the text
to
act as abbreviation markers. The numbers would not be taken from the
plaintext
cipher table but a separate table of gallows glyphs. All gallows with a ?
below
them are of uncertain use. Note there are 21 ch & sh combinations.

Maybe the same number as the letters in the plaintext alphabet? Of course I
don't
have the full EVA as my sample and combinations such as shp, chf or others
might
appear elsewhere. If not then 21 seems a significant number to me.
