Yes.
People sometimes use 'I know that...' or talk about
facts when in reality they are talking about
hypotheses or assumptions.
Now whether a person is still alive or not is
a fact. And the fact is that Robert S. Brumbaugh
has passed away a number of years ago. I cannot
give the year or any verifiable reference.
199x seems reasonable.

Errm... I wasn't questioning whether he passed away or not, but whether that happened in '199x'. It's a reasonable guess, absolutely - but still a guess. :-|

FWIW, having searched a little more on the web, it seems that Robert Sherrick Brumbaugh was born in 1918, & that perhaps his most famous book was "Ancient Greek Gadgets and Machines". Personally, I'd also be interested in reading both his "Unreality and Time" and "Western philosophic systems and their cyclic transformations" books too. :-)

Robert C. Brumbaugh was quite involved with his
father's work. He might know more about the origin
of the archer's hat. But this can also be verified
in other ways.

Asking RSB's son might simply be the fastest (and cheapest) way to find out. :-)

Cheers, .....Nick Pelling.....
