the word-final m appears typically at line ends
but also relatively frequently in labels.
Clearly, word-final m can also appear in
other places. Currier's observation of the 'line as
a functional unit' may in the end be reduced to
the fact that lines are (often? / always?) preceded
by 'additional' single characters, the meaning of
which is still to be identified. (I know there are
several suggestions :-) ).
I wish I had time to look into this :-/
