RE: VMs: RE: The key

Jeff:> And for John Grove. I know people get heated about claims of
solution. They have invested a lot of time and effort and know how tricky
this stuff is. I have seen various things proposed on list and then they
seem to disappear. Some of the most interesting are never discussed with
enough openness. People seem to protective of their own methods. This is why
I reviewed my emails a while back and came across several things of very
great interest. There I some on the list who seem to have disappeared and I
would like to know how they are progressing. I am not in this for
recognition. I just like a chalenge. I do not adhere to the principle of
peer review. Sorry but I don't. If I solve it I solve it. If I don't then
that's too bad. But I will know when I've done it and so will everyone else.

Whether one believes in peer review or not - it will happen, and if you
solve it and truly do - then, yes everyone will probably know it as well. I
don't think it'll be too difficult to convince people if a proposed solution
works through out the manuscript and others are able to replicate the
results. As for secrecy of 'methods'... I don't think there are as many as
you think. Most people have tossed out ideas in the zone of 'what if', but
few have devised methods that are worth sharing.

	John.
